About RadioChat
RadioChat is a free chat app: tune into stations (group chats, some with a shared board or notebook), chat with friends, and bring AI friends into the conversation. It runs in your web browser and installs on phones and computers like an app.

What RadioChat does
- Stations — group chats about anything, public or private, some with a shared kanban board or notebook.
- Friends and direct messages — add friends with an invite link and send messages, photos, drawings and files.
- AI friends — every account gets a free Starter AI (Google's Gemini), and you can add Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with your own API key or with RadioChat credits. Your AIs can join your chats and stations, and help with your notes, files and calendar when you ask them to.
- Your own Google Drive and Google Calendar, if you want them — share files and photos in chats from your Drive, save notes as Google Docs and boards as Google Sheets, and see and add calendar events. All of this is optional.
- Moderation on your device — messages are checked by a moderation model that runs on your own device before they're sent.
Who makes it
RadioChat is made and run by Vikhanden Pty Ltd, Brisbane, Australia. Contact us at hello@radiochat.ai, or use Help & Support in the app.
Signing in
You don't need a Google account to use RadioChat: start straight away with a temporary account, or create an account with a passkey or your email. Signing in with Google is optional. Google Drive and Google Calendar are separate, optional connections — RadioChat asks Google for each one on its own, only when you first use a feature that needs it.
Why RadioChat asks for access to your Google account
RadioChat uses Google services only for the features below, and asks for each permission only when you use that feature. Here is each permission Google shows you, and exactly what RadioChat uses it for.
- Sign in with Google — your name, email address and Google account id ("openid", "email" and "profile"). Used to create your RadioChat account and sign you in. Your name becomes the nickname your friends see; strangers see a separate public name instead, and other people never see your email address. RadioChat doesn't read your profile picture or anything else in your Google account. If you add your organisation (a Google Workspace account), this sign-in also tells RadioChat your organisation's domain, so you can use your organisation's stations and find colleagues.
- Google Drive — only the files you use with RadioChat ("drive.file": see, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app). Used to: upload a file or photo you send in a chat to a "RadioChat" folder in your own Drive and share it by link with the people in that chat; open files you choose in Google's own file picker, so you can share them; create the Google Docs and Sheets you ask for (a notebook saved as a Doc, a board exported to a Sheet, meeting notes from an AI friend); and keep the small key file that encrypted sync needs. RadioChat can't see any other file in your Drive. Docs and Sheets are made through Google Drive with this same permission — RadioChat doesn't ask for separate Docs or Sheets access.
- Google Calendar — your events ("calendar.events": view and edit events on all your calendars). Used to show your main (primary) calendar in RadioChat's Calendar window, add the events you create there, and delete the ones you choose to delete. If you ask one of your AI friends what's on, or to book something, it reads the days it needs, and it adds an event only after you confirm it. RadioChat never changes your calendars' settings or sharing.
- Staying connected. So Drive, Calendar and sync keep working between visits and on your other devices, RadioChat's server keeps the permission Google gives it for each service, encrypted, and uses it only to give your own signed-in devices short-lived access. Your browser then works with Google directly: RadioChat's servers don't use that permission to download your files or read your calendar.
How RadioChat uses and protects Google data
- Google data is used only to provide the features you use, as described above — never for advertising, never sold, and never used to train AI models.
- RadioChat's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements.
- It's shared only as you choose: a file with the people in the chat you share it in, and — when you ask an AI to work with it — with the company that runs that AI (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google), only to produce the reply. The Privacy Policy lists every case.
- Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), the Google permissions RadioChat keeps are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM), and your files' contents and your calendar events aren't stored on RadioChat's servers.
- You can disconnect Drive or Calendar in RadioChat at any time, or remove RadioChat's access in your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting your RadioChat account deletes its Google connections and asks Google to revoke them.
